Why?

Working as an educational consultant means I get to learn with and about people all the time. That is one of my favorite things to do! I am driven by curiosity and a deep desire to collaboratively solve educational puzzles. Consulting gives me the flexibility to prioritize my family and personal health as I contribute to positive learning experiences for youth and adults.

I used to think P-16 classroom teachers were the most direct way to ensure everyone had access to an engaging education. Teachers make the most immediate impact. But teaching and learning across K-12 and university systems has taught me about the power of institutional and community-based networks that strengthen and sustain educational change - particularly for students from the global majority learning as under-represented minorities in the US.

As a P-16 teacher and professor, I found meaning in facilitating learning with youth and young adults. Now, as an educational consultant, I draw deep satisfaction knowing that the questions we ask, the ways we collect data, the lenses we use for analysis, and the recommendations we craft can have an equally positive impact on programs working to produce powerful learning experiences too.
